Tara is in Abu Dhabi with an earth mission

ABU DHABI - Tara, a two-masted ship that sails across the oceans with a mission of saving the blue planet from environmental dangers, is in Abu Dhabi.

The French ship that carries on board, laboratories and researchers from several countries had set sail a few years ago on the current mission under the auspices of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP).

Berthed at Abu Dhabi’s Mina Zayed, Tara has a program of gathering and analysing educational information on environmental issues and marine scientific research in the UAE. The ship will continue its voyage after 2nd March.

Earlier, Tara had cruised across Antarctica to witness at first hand, the impacts of global warming and environmental change on the world’s most southerly Continent.

Tara Expeditions, which is supported by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), hopes to generate public interest in both the beauty and frailty of planet Earth.
