Cihan Sultanoğlu (a Turk) is trying hard to repair history with Armenia with UN money !

Click here for this story @ ArmRadio: http://www.armradio.am/en/2013/10/07/undp-and-its-partners-join-efforts-to-restore-historical-cultural-heritage-in-gyumri/

The city of Gyumri is gifted with rich historical and cultural monuments. During centuries a unique architectural style has been formed in Gyumri, with more than 1,600 historical-architectural buildings covering an area of about 220 hectares. Most of them were built in the same period – 19th and beginning of 20th centuries. However, during the recent years the city’s historical and cultural heritage has suffered due to the 1988 devastating earthquake and insufficient funding and investments by public and private sectors. This, in its turn, hindered community development and investment flows to the second largest city of Armenia.
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Armenia and the RA Ministry of Culture, with the financial support of the Government of Italy, initiated a project aimed at regeneration of the urban environment in the city of Gyumri, thus making it more attractive place to live, visit and work and contributing to its socio-economic revival. Within the framework of the project, one of Gyumri’s historical buildings, constructed in 1860-1913 and considered as a constituent part of history and architecture of the city, was renovated to serve as a public library for the residents of the city.

"No Confidence" vote for Ban Ki-moon and the only reason was: "he and his wife spend too much in air fares" ! While at UNDP: Samaras seem to be OK with moving Bratislava Centre to Turkey

In the looser world of UN's Staff Union, the only thing wrong with the current secretary general (Ban Ki-moon) is:

Aware that the travel costs of the Secretary-General and his entourage, including his spouse, constitute a significant expense to the Organization;

That's the only thing the leadership of Staff Union, who scratches their scrotum all day and get paid for doing nothing, (& never-ever defended any staff) could think as problematic with the dysfunctional United Nations system !

And here is their ridiculous, useless Staff Resolution :

Ah..and for the UNDP audience, this is what's coming your way:

"We estimate that a US$50 million dollar cut from previously planned spending will be needed this year to keep UNDP’s core liquidity balance at a minimum of three months at the end of the year.” Click here for this

Let's see what UNDP's own staff council will say about this...since it seems that they failed to protect the Bratislava staffers from loosing their jobs who are due to be transferred to Turkey.

Many say that Dimitri Samaras (a Greek) has agreed with the Turkish ASG of RBEC about the move.

In case you want to say smth about contact the Staff Council these are your representatives:

UN Representative Calls For Establishing A 'World Capital'--In Islamic Istanbul

The world needs a global capital and it should be the capital of Islamic Turkey, Istanbul, according to a UN special representative. Richard Falk, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Palestinian human rights, wrote a Nov. 1, 2012, opinion piece for the controversial al Jazeera English site calling for a "global capital" because of integration "by markets, by globally constituted battlefields, by changing geopolitical patterns."

While Turkey is a longstanding U.S. ally and a member of NATO, its nearly 80 million population is 99.8 percent Muslim, according to the CIA Factbook. Its Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has had several run-ins with Israel over access to Gaza. In March, he urged Israel to "stop the brutal attack against Palestinians and stop the massacre and bloodshed."

Helen Clark's hypocrisy about Human Rights in Turkey - only postpones inevitable clashes

Helen in Turkey - Are any of these kids Kurds?

German Government said recently: “A country that disregards the human rights of women as much as Turkey does, that on its own territory renders life difficult for Christians, from such a prime minister we do not need lessons about how to deal with religious minorities in our countries,”.

Well as expected Helen Clark failed to mention during her recent trip in Turkey the Human Rights issue of minorities and how Christians are being abused and threatened to the point that many are living the country.

Is UNDP a tacit accomplice of Turkish Government on Human Rights violation ? Statistics say that so far UNDP in Turkey has not provided a single dollar support to any minority, openly endorsing Turkish islamist and militaristic government stand on Kurdish situation.

Kemal Dervis illegaly uses UNDP immage to support tourism industry in Turkey, while Tsunami hit countries wait in-line for some long needed attention

for the past 102 days, UNDP main Website (http://www.undp.org/) has been sponsoring Turkey's tourism as a UNDP main priority.

As if countries like Maldives, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore where tourism industry was totally destroyed from the tsunami - does not need to attract tourists, and where people's life has been directly affected - -looks like UNDP chief Kemal Dervis has already started his campaign for returning this fall to Turkey.

How can the member states allow that their money be miss-managed from David Morrison, the Director of UNDP's Department of Information who is directly responsible for the main-website of UNDP ??

Questions from G77 group has been raised these days about this latest gaff of UNDP, many ambassadors have been asking : How much did Turkey paid for this ADD in United Nations main Development Programme's page ? How much is this ADD worth for Turkey ? How much this ADD is worth for Kemal Dervis?

How can Kemal Dervis use a 5 billion dollar enterprise to sponsor Tourism in Turkey, while people are dying in other places ? How can Kemal Dervis sponsor Tourism in turkey while UNDP staff are killed in line of duty and staff and public need to know more about UNDP's actions to protect staffers around the world ? Instead of keeping for 102 days up a publicity for Tourism in turkey, why Kemal Dervis does not publish Internal Audits that show the failure of UNDP's Security Unit to protect staffers from Algiers to Somalia to Darfur ??

Here is the website of UNDP:

Dervis plans to comeback in Turkey's politics protested. ....contract up in November 2008

While Ban Ki-moon gives his last hand to Kemal Dervis' attempt to return back to Turkish politics, it seems that the labor Unions back in otoman empire doesn't like at all the idea of his return.

Today the representatives of Confederation of Turkish labor Unions (Türk-İş), Confederation of Turkish Real Trade Unions (Hak-İş), Confederation of Revolutionary Workers' Unions (DİSK) and Turkish Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB) announced that they would not join High Consultative Council meeting on new constitution in protest of the participation of Kemal Derviş, the head of the UN Development Programme (UNDP) who in 2001 became Turkey's economy minister after a 22-year career at the World Bank. Turkey in 2001 was facing its worst economic crisis in modern history. Sources closes to the unions said they understood Derviş had plans to come back to the Turkish political scene by autum.

Very strangely the recent contract extension that Ban Ki-moon handed out to his USG's and ASG's, list Kemal Dervis with an expiration of November 2008. While Ban has already extended Ad Melkert (Dutch sources say), it seem that he or Mr. Dervis himself has other plans passed November 08.

While in Turkey all Labour Union protest against the UNDP Leader, UNDP itself proclaim his "short" visit in Turkey as yet another success story. You can read more about it here.
