UNFCCC Announces 2012 CDM Multi-media Contest

2 July 2012: The UNFCCC Secretariat has launched the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) International Photo, Video and Podcast Contest 2012 under the theme “CDM Changing Lives.” The contest aims to select compelling and original entries showcasing the benefits of the Kyoto Protocol’s CDM using different media.
The three categories of the contest – photo, video and podcast – aim to inspire participants to communicate simple yet powerful messages about the benefits of the CDM. Professional and amateur photographers are invited to submit original, artistic photos on the theme “CDM Changing Lives,” showcasing CDM projects and related benefits. Professional and amateur videographers are invited to create a compelling video that completes the phrase, “People should know about this CDM project because?” For the podcast category, a new addition to this year’s contest, broadcasters, freelancers and amateurs are invited to create a podcast that answers the question “How has my community/city/country benefited from the CDM?”
Winning entries will be displayed in a booth at the UNFCCC Climate Change Conference in Doha, Qatar, in December 2012, while short-listed entries may feature in print and promotional material on the UNFCCC website and other platforms. The submission deadline for all three categories is 20 September 2012.
