Diplomats on closed doors are confirming that Ban Ki Moon might have already reached the deal for his second term with the Permanent 5, but at the end it will not work because this time his candidature might not get the votes on the floor of the General Assembly.
Diplomats are saying that the process might result in major embarrassment for the Permanent 5, with certain member states quite keen to have the Security Council actually fail on Ban Ki moon so the process of enlargement of the Security Council Permanent Seats becomes the order of the day.
Many including India, Brazil and european diplomats are now saying that this Security Council has lost legitimacy and only the enlargement of the Permanent Seats and a better geographical distribution of power would lead to legal binding decisions from the SC.
Susan Rice and Obama administration are rushing to support a second term for Ban Ki Moon, but they are not taking under consideration the poor performance, corruption and lack of reforms by the world body. Susan Rice has failed to mention even once the US stance on UN corruption and miss-management. For her everything inside the UN is going just fine.
As a smiling diplomat put this morning "this american stooge won't get far this time". A big game is being played with Ban Ki Moon's fate as stake, let's see who is going to play who ?
